But there is a ton of ground work that has to be done as bouldering is not just about climbing and descending, it is a much more complicated part of rock climbing. The first part of the ground work is toning your your body and muscles. Chief requirements of bouldering are a toned body, flexibility, great muscle power, light weight and a good respiration. All these factors contribute to effective and safe climbing. In order to achieve such a level of physical fitness, you will need to do lots of exercise, such as frequent swimming, running, swift walking and push us and pull ups. In addition, gym work outs and Yoga will add to the benefit, as they will enhance respiration, flexibility and muscle toning. Once you have completed this ground work, to your satisfaction you may proceed to the actual climbing. Read on extreme sports

Bouldering Techniques #1: Warm Up and Get Ready
The first bouldering technique says, don't touch the rock at all! Ok, just kidding. The first step before you undertake any bouldering activity is to warm up your body and have an equipment check. Warming up your body and working up a mild sweat is absolutely essential due to the fact that a warmed up body has a better response and reflex, not to mention a greater ability to exert power and strength. It would also prevent your muscles from cramping up and in addition to that oxygen and blood will reach to every possible corner of your body. Once you are done proceed to the rock face and make some basic holds, with both your hands and feet. Once you feel that you are ready, have a look at the rope, waist harness, carabiner and descender. Now you are ready to surmount the rock.

Bouldering Techniques #2: Read the Route and Feel the Rock
The next important technique is to read the route or rather plan the route on the rock face that you wish to take. You will need to visualize and analyze the route that you want to take up. Hence, just plan out your foot holds and hand holds, if possible along fissure or cracks in the rock face. It is also advisable to visualize each hold and the route. It must be taken into consideration that you might need to alter the plan, during the actual climb. Hence, it is wise to spot and memorize alternative holds. A common mistake that many people make is to ignore the descend. It is also important that you visualize the descend, since not all ascend holds can be used for a safe descend.

Bouldering Techniques #3: Holds and Grip
Many of us enthusiastically take a tight grip over the hold that we have found. However, it is better to have a relaxed and firm grip. A relaxed and firm grip is especially essential for foot holds. You may achieve such a grip by equally distributing your weigh and leaning towards the rock face but resist the urge of hugging it. Many amateurs often wonder that how can this possibly be advantageous. Well, when you lean in towards the rock, the action of gravity that acts on your body, decreases and believe it or not, it decreases our weight and enhances your balance. Another tip that is often offered, is that leaning too much is not very healthy but leaning in a parallel manner, further betters the balance. Thus, making a relaxed and firm grip is better than making a tight grip.

Bouldering Techniques #4: Static Climbing
Among the many bouldering tips the one that is very much ignored is static climbing. It basically means that bouldering is a method of climbing where shifting of weight eventually and evenly is necessary. Practically speaking, all you need to do is make two holds with a similar axis on the rock such as left hand hold and right leg hold or vice versa. You may also balance out only on your two feet, but I would advise you against balancing on only one hand or foot or only on two hands.

mira mola apartments ibiza

Get cheap flights & cheap airfare with an ease at Bookingwiz. Hiking is one of the most loved activities for the outdoorsy person! Nothing can compare to the thrill of the adventure topped with the fresh air and the beautiful shade of green all around. Hiking and camping are thus the ideal way to refresh one’s mood to give a break from the mundane routine of office affairs! However, whilst you are out hiking, you must be well equipped to handle various situations that may arise. Apart from the cookware and other essentials, the clothing you opt for hiking are equally important to make your trip really enjoyable. If you have often wondered what to wear while hiking then you can take a peek at some of these useful tips and ideas for clothing suited for this activity.

What to wear while hiking:
The weather would largely dictate the kind of clothing you pack. If the weather turns out to be unpredictable, such as sunny mornings and rain for the evenings, then you would need to opt for layered clothing. Layered clothing would help you to adapt to the changes in the varying moods of Mother Nature! Always ensure you wear a base layer of clothing made of fabrics that absorb sweat. This layer is closest to your skin therefore; fabrics that do not absorb sweat and don’t let it evaporate would make you feel clammy throughout the day. Polyester micro fiber is suited for the warm summer where as polypropylene is preferable for the cool winters.

If the weather turns slightly cooler, ensure you have shirts and pants made of wool or fleece material. You can opt for full-length pants that can double up as a capri when required. The long length is useful to avoid scratches caused by prickly bushes or annoying mosquito bites. If it can be turned into a capri, it would be useful when the weather turns warm or when you need to wade across a stream.

The outer most layers should be wind proof and water resistant if you are hiking during the rains. Look for a loose jacket with loads of pockets that can let you store all the knickknacks needed whilst hiking.

Avoid denim pants on your hiking trip. Instead opt for special hiking pants that are easily available in many stores. These pants are made up of breathable fabrics. For the monsoon season, you can even find pants that are made up of water resistant fabric! Short pants are fine if you know the terrain of the area well. Shorts can come in handy so always keep an extra pair in your bag.

A hiking vest is also an important part of such sporty gear. These are fitted and sleeveless and come in riot of colors! Opt for lightweight fabrics specially designed to be wind proof as well as resistant to water.

The kind of footwear you opt for is extremely important while hiking. This would also depend largely upon the climate and the kind of terrain you are about to explore. If you are planning to walk along some natural trails, you can opt for shoes of the lighter varieties. These should be comfortable so that you can truly enjoy the beauty of nature without having uncomfortable feet. For the monsoon season, choose waterproof shoes with a sturdy sole that can enable you to get a better grip whilst you walk.

Always look for the cushioning in the footwear. Stiff shoes are bound to make your feet hurt. Ankle high boots are often preferred. Do not compromise on the comfort for your feet. After all, the walk would be possible only when your feet are comfortable in appropriate footwear.

A pair of socks can also make a world of a difference. Look for socks made from fabrics suited for hiking. There are padded socks that are designed to keep your feet warm and comfortable. Otherwise, you can even opt for socks made of two layers that are specifically designed to reduce friction. Socks give that cushioning needed for tired feet.

Also opt for hats or caps to protect yourself from the heat. Knit caps are ideal for the cool winters. Glares are very much needed to keep your eyes protected from the harsh rays of the sun.

With the right hiking apparel, your trip would be enjoyable without any hindrances in terms of comfort. The right clothing can help you face any changes in weather with a smile!

Travel Packages Varanasi - Looking for the Dream lodging, Best Rates, Best food, Guaranteed Explore Hotels in Varanasi, India.
whitw water rafting - Whether you are a first-time whitewater rafter looking for a scenic float trip or looking to surge down class IV rapids, our knowledgeable guides are sure to provide a safe and extraordinary experience that youll never forget!
new homes cardiff - All information you need to get a new home in cardiff

Springboard Diving Techniques for Beginners

'Falling with style'! that is what diving is all about, according to the popular movie Toy Story! Diving as a fun sport gained popularity in the 17th century in Europe. Today, people learn to dive either for the adventure, and also to take part in competitions. It is a major Olympic sport and quite popular in many countries. Diving is all about style, strength, performance and grace. It also teaches one to challenge and develop the conventional way of thinking.

Diving Basics

The basic requirement for a beginner to learn diving is, to be able to swim well. Confidence is another crucial factor one needs, to take up this sport. Swimming and diving in deep water is enjoyed by few, but feared by many. A prospective diver must be as comfortable in deep water as in shallow. A healthy, supple and a lean built is always an advantage for a diver.

Beginners Checkpoints

There are two major lessons to achieve springboard diving perfection - the mechanics involved in diving and timing of a dive. Springboard dive is performed from the 1m and 3m height diving boards. A beginner starts from a simple dive and goes on to perform many acrobatic styles. The 3 main phases of mastering a dive are:

* Take-off: Divers can jump facing forwards or backwards. A forward dive can be performed with a short run on the board, while a backward dive is performed by springing from a standing position. The balance, position and synchronization of body parts determine a good take-off.
* Flight: The flight stage consists of many types depending on the style of the dive adopted by diver in the air. Different positions during a flight (after take-off and before entering water) are: straight position, pike position, tuck position and the free position.
* Entry in the Pool:The most important aspect of a good entry is the splashing of minimum water during the dive. A well performed dive will 'knife' the water and not splash it all around. The prerequisite of a perfect entry is a properly aligned body with the arms outstretched above the head and the feet straight in line with the body.

Types and Techniques of Springboard Diving

There are six types of dives one must know to achieve springboard diving perfection.

* Forward: The diver faces the front and spins in the direction of the water.
* Backward: Here, the diver spins away from the board with his back towards the water.
* Reverse: In a reverse dive, the diver faces the front of the board and spins inwards in the direction of the board.
* Inward: This type is the opposite of a backward dive. The back of the diver faces towards the water and the diver spins towards the board.
* Twisting: It is the dive with many different styles. Any number of twists and turns can be incorporated into it while diving.
* Arm Stand: A very special type of dive that involves hand standing balancing the body on one's hands) on the edge of the board and diving.

All of the above types can also be performed in synchronization with another diver. This type of diving is called synchronized springboard diving.

Finally, it can be concluded that, diving requires a thorough understanding of the procedure involved. Therefore, it is very important to have an expert guidance. A good coach is always recommended for learning springboard diving.

Springboard Diving Techniques for Beginners

1. Stand in an erect and balanced position; a few steps back from the edge of the diving board.
2. Step forward at a normal walking pace. Concentrate on the end of the board and at the same time, keep the head facing up and the body relaxed.
3. Swing the arms to get into a forward momentum. Lift one leg up and jump straight up balancing on the other leg.
4. Keep the legs straight and together in the air. Raise the arms together on top of the head.
5. Jump and land on the edge of the board. Bounce out of the board by jumping forward keeping the eyes fixed on the opposite end of the pool.
6. The spring action of the board will propel the diver high into the air. Bend slightly at the waist, keeping both hands parallel together and stretched above the head brushing the ears.
7. Pointing the arms towards the water, make an entry in the pool 'piercing' the water; arms first followed by rest of the body. The body should be in a perfect streamlined position.

Necessary Precautions
Ensure that the water is sufficiently deep before diving. A minimum 9m depth is advisable to avoid getting hurt while diving. Be relaxed and confident and practice regularly to get used to the spring effect of the board. Always propel forward while lifting off the board. Maintain a good balance and control of the body.

The last and most important tip is, to observe good divers and learn from them. He Chong and Guo Jingjing of China, Alexandre Despatie of Canada, Yulia Pakhalina of Russia, are some of the many champion divers who can be watched and followed for good springboard diving lessons.

Diving is the one of the most exciting ways of unleashing the zestful energy within us. It was during the 1970s that river rafting caught the attention of people looking for alternate adventure activities. The inclusion of this sport into the 1972 Munich Olympics was a major boost.

River rafting or whitewater rafting involves handling and navigating a raft safely across a river or a stream which has tempestuous or violent water. Whitewater is formed when sections of a river suddenly slope downward, increasing the flow and speed of water, causing a turbulence. These sections known as rapids, make the fast-flowing water frothy and white in appearance. Hence the name whitewater rafting. Rafting is done on whitewater to thrill the raft passengers.

Although, there are many adventurous extreme sports like bungee jumping, paragliding, skiing, scuba diving, etc but those which can be enjoyed with family and kids are few, in fact rare.

Rafting is one such activity which will definitely excite everyone - whether you are young or old, alone or with family and kids. River rafting is an excellent option for a family vacation or adventure travel. Here are some excellent places for whitewater river rafting:

Colorado River, The Grand Canyon
Nothing can be compared to the beauty of rafting at the Colorado river. The river passes through the Grand Canyon National Park. One can enjoy the hidden waterfalls, falling from hundreds of feet and the silence of Colorado if you halt for the night. These are the exotic spots which are accessible only through the Colorado river. Many tour operators provide 3, 4, 6 and 7 day packages which include scenic helicopter flights, rafting, hiking and camping. Rafting vacations in the Grand Canyon are one of the best in the United
States.

Rogue River, Oregon
The river in Oregon provides a great experience for a family rafting vacation. The canyon from Grave Creek to Foster Bar provides a spectacular view and people love it when they discover the hidden swimming pools. In the 34 mile trip, you will come across a vast wildlife. The region is full of deer, black bears, turtles, mallard ducks, bald eagles and ospreys. The Rogue rafting vacation is one of the best wildlife viewing trip which comes at an affordable price. An old Oregon saying for rafting the Rogue, rightly states, "Relax in the state of excitement!"

Salmon River, Idaho
Idaho's Middle Fork of the Salmon river drops 3,000 feet through its course, making it extremely thrilling for the raft-men. The rafts are generally launched at 6,000 feet above sea level on the narrow steep river. The rapids are frequent and as the river drops in elevation, it widens and opens up to vast granite mountains. The trips are usually of 5 to 6 days, covering 80 to 105 miles. The best season for rafting at Idaho is from June to September.

New River Gorge Rafting, West Virginia
This is another perfect rafting vacation spot. The canyon at the New River Gorge is commonly known as 'Grand Canyon of the East'. The steep cliffs and the forests surrounding the canyon provide ample opportunity for other adventure sports such as rock climbing, hiking, and fishing.

Useful Tips
Rafting can be dangerous if due precautions are not taken beforehand. Some things which need to be taken care of are:

* Sign up for a multi-day trip instead of half or full day trip. This way you can learn the basics of river rafting under proper supervision.
* Always bring well-fitting shoes and clothes. Loose clothes are a strict 'NO'. Wearing loose fitting jewelry should be avoided.
* People who use contact lenses are advised not to wear them while rafting, as they may get contaminated by the river water. Wear spectacles instead.
* Before leaving on such a trip, make sure that the weather forecasts are good.
* Swimming at night in unsupervised areas should be avoided.
* Wear your personal flotation device (PFD) always.

Whitewater river rafting is always a thrilling activity. The joy of experiencing the adventure with your family is priceless. You experience it once, and I bet you will come back for more. Pack your bags this vacation for the ultimate adventure and have the time of your life!

Camping Checklist - Essentials for Camping

Generally, camping is fun, but things can go horribly wrong if you miss out on essentials for camping or perhaps you are skeptical about what is essential and what is not. Therefore it is imperative to enlist camping checklist essentials. The following text will tell you what all you need for a smooth camping endeavor.

Camping Checklist

Shelter and Allied Things: If you are going on a nature camp or jungle trail, shelter is the most important thing. For protection against rain, cold weather and such, you need shelter, for example a tent. Moreover, you cannot just lie down on the ground, so there are other things you need which are as follows:

* Tent
* Tarp
* Sleeping bag
* Sleeping pad
* Headrest

These are an important part of the camping gear, be it any kind of camp.
Safety Comes First: Yes, first aid kit this is an extremely crucial aspect of a camping expedition and is one of the basics of camping checklist essentials. Injuries, medical emergencies, etc. do not come with a warning. So to deal with any mishap, it is necessary to have a first aid kit or first aid box. This is specifically required when it comes to camping with kids. Checklist will make sure that you are well equipped with emergency safety measures in case the kids undergo an injury. That, which is of course very plausible. In addition to the emergency factor, if there are elderly or middle aged people or any person of the group who has to take some daily medicines, one would also need to carry them. The things include:

* Personal medication
* Bandages
* Aspirin
* Tylenol
* Medical tape
* Sterile gauze
* Elastic wrap
* Antibiotic Wipes
* Antiseptic cream
* Burn ointment
* Sunburn lotion
* Hydrogen peroxide
* Scissors
* Tweezers
* Eye wash
* Sanitary napkins
* Snake bite kit
Gourmet Gauging: Now, there are people who eat to live and there are those who live to eat. You could be the former or the latter. But the fact is that one needs to eat to survive. Even if it is not either a do or die or a exaggeratively adventurous situation, cooking outside could be real fun. Hence, one needs a camping food checklist. The smell emanating could be a real tickler for your taste buds and gastronomic senses. Further, while camping you would obviously not expect any thing fancy, right? Therefore what you need essentially is:

* Water
* Food
* Camp stove
* Cooler
* Mess kit
* Charcoal
* Can opener

In addition to this, you can also carry things like hot dog sticks, folding table and chairs, pie irons and few more things. If it is a trailer camping checklist, you might as well carry these things to have complete 'similar to home' kind of an experience! Allied to this is the chuck box, where in you have pots, pans, plates, plastic glasses, napkins, trash bags and so on. You could also include cork screws, aluminum foils and stuff like that.
Read more on camping food in camping food recipes.

Clean Scene: By clean scene I am making an allusion to things which you would need for cleaning the kitchen things or generally for personal hygiene like soaps, detergents, brush and so on. You would not want to get up on the first day of the camp saying 'Gosh I do not have my brush'. How bad that would be. Hence, here is what you CAN carry for personal hygiene:

* Tooth paste
* Tooth brush
* Comb or Brush
* Wash rag
* Towel
* Toilet paper
* Nail cutter or clipper
* Razor

Other cleaning items include:

* Broom
* Dust pan
* Lawn rake
* Dish pan
* Whisk broom
* Detergent
* Dish rags
* Pot scrubber

Spur of the Moment or 11th Hour Things: These are the things which you do not write in the essentials for camping. But seasoned campaigners surely remember to take them. If not that, it would strike you to carry things like camera, binoculars and things like that, once you start packing and think about the venue and what you would do there. So, these are those kind of impromptu things which you realize you have missed out only when you are almost done with the packing according to your camping checklist.

* Binoculars
* Bug spray
* Camera
* Candles
* Playing cards
* Cell phone
* Clothe's pins
* Duct tape
* Compass
* Fishing gear
* Flashlight
* GPS
* Pen and paper
* Matches
* Rope
* Sun block
* Tools

GPS, compass and similar things are necessary for a car camping checklist. You would normally find this in any camping checklist template.

These are generally the things you would need for a hassle free camping tour. Other than this, it could be anything you think of as important for you, like may be your I-pod can be a part of your camping checklist essentials. A printable camping checklist available on the Internet would be a better option if you do not want to write down the essentials for camping. A camping checklist in pdf format is one of the most common on the Internet.

There you go! After such a long list of things needed for camping, I am sure you are itching to go out there and have fun! So go ahead! Have a blast!

Mountain Bike Buyers Guide

If you are planning to buy a mountain bike, there are various parameters which need to be considered before you come to a conclusion. Cost is one of the factors, which can drill spokes in this task. It is very difficult to decide from the available range, due to various factors. In a typical mountain bike buyers guide, there are many factors which are under the scanner. But the most important of them are the quality factors.

Pointers to Buy Mountain Bikes
The mountain bikes are available in the cheaper range as well. But they lack certain perks like suspension, disc brakes, etc. It is a good idea to check whether the bike can be upgraded with different accessories, as and when the need arises. Here is a mountain bike buyers guide to help you choose the right bike.

Frame
When a mountain trek bicycle is under consideration, it is important to first study the frame of the bike thoroughly. Many of the bike manufacturers give a lifetime warranty for the frames. It is a good idea to first check for the review of the frame. You should decide on a frame, taking your riding style into account. There is a variety in the frames, from which a buyer can make his choice. It has been noticed that the steel frame bikes are very heavy and also the quality is not up to the mark. There is a type called ’Crom-oly’ , which is easily available. It is the mixture of steel, chromium and molybdenum. They are strong and sturdy. Carbon fiber frame is also a favorite with some buyers. They are strong and light in weight. There is a whole range of whole-suspension bikes, which are made from carbon fiber. But the downside of carbon fiber frames is, that they get damaged easily by rocks. Some varieties of mountain bikes also have aluminum frames. But they do not handle suspension, well. The titanium frames have also hit the market, but they were expensive initially. They are light in weight but as sturdy as the Crom-oly frames. After having decided upon the frame material, there are certain other parameters which need attention as well. The most important of them is whether upgrading is a feasible option; the others being good cabling, space for mud, etc.

Forks
After the frames, the forks are an important part of the bike. They are a part of the front suspension mechanism. They enable safe braking of the front wheel. A bike without fork suspension will vibrate and can be a reason behind the wheel losing its alignment.

Suspension
Suspension is an essential factor for comfort and control, especially for long hauls. It is not a very good idea to buy a bike without suspension of any kind. If you plan to navigate through large rocks and jump over them, it’s a wise idea to have suspension installed on the bike. Although a school of thought is of the opinion, that suspension adds on to the maintenance cost.

Brakes
There are few kinds of brakes, which can be fitted to the mountain bikes. Hydraulic brakes rule the roost, although they are expensive. They work well in all weather conditions, which is not the case with cable rim brakes. The cable rim brakes are cheaper, although the labor cost can, at times be high. Some buyers choose to buy bikes with cable rim brakes, but it is important to inquire if it is possible to upgrade to hydraulic brakes.

Seats
An uncomfortable seat can cause the maximum amount of discomfort while riding. Hence, it is a wise option to buy a seat, which offers good comfort. It is suggested, that you put the seat to test before finalizing upon it. There are seats available, which are sweat absorbing. New range of seats have been launched in the market with a split nose. The manufacturers claim, these seats will be able to ward of testicular cancer in men. But the claim is not yet ascertained.

Fit of the Bike
Each buyer has his/her own preference in buying a particular fit of the bike. It is dependent whether you want better control on the bike or you want to ride comfortably without tiring your body . The height of the seat is also adjusted as per the requirements.

Wheels and Tires
Checking the wheels and the tires form an important part of the mountain bike buyers guide. It is important to ascertain the use of the mountain bike. If you are going to be hard on your bike, then it is vital that you choose the hard wheels. The small wheels are light, but will not be able to stand the wear and tear. It is advised to buy wheels and tires of trusted brands and are a name to reckon with in the industry.

Gear
These days, riders prefer gears which can be changed by twisting the grip of the handle bars. But trigger shifters is the better of the two options. They are located just under the handle grip. They are more reliable than the grip shifters and are also easy to use. The grip shifters can get changed unknowingly while riding. The other component of the gears are the dérailleurs. There are some brands which have a monopoly in the field of dérailleurs. But it is not advisable to buy a bike just because they have certain dérailleurs. It is important to look for endurance and weight of the dérailleurs, while buying them.

Guarantee
Since you are spending on a bike, it is important that you make the purchase from a well-known retailer. The bike should have 'Lifetime warranty’ engraved on it, although, all the components are not covered under this warranty.
Cost When you decide that you want to purchase a bike, make sure you plan your budget beforehand. The decent range of bikes start upwards from $450. Many people buy second sale bikes, although they cost much lesser now, they throw up repairs every now and eventually leading to more costs.

It is very difficult to list down ten best mountain bikes or top ten mountain bikes, as each one of the mountain bike buyers guide will have their own version of why the particular bike is better than the other. It is important, that the buyers decides the amount that he is ready to spend, the terrain he plans to go biking to and his intention of buying the bike. After all the considerations should the best mountain bike for the buyer be decided upon.

Taking to the Skies in Style: Hot Air Ballooning

In 1967, the Fifth Dimension asked the musical question, "Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?" The song, which was written by Jimmy Webb, was called Up, Up, & Away eballoon.org, hot air ballooning began in 1783, with a sheep, a duck, and a rooster as the first passengers. The first human passengers took a ride two months later, on November 21st. While helium and hydrogen balloons were later used by the military, such as in World War I, according to the Aerostar company, which makes hot air balloons and equipment, little progress was made on the development of hot air balloons until the 1960s. Ballooning as a sport and recreational activity has been increasing in popularity since then, especially in the United States. There are now over 3,500 balloons in the US and about another 1,000 in other countries.

Hot air balloons are based on a simple concept, hot air is lighter than cold air, and therefore it rises. Modern balloons have three basic components: a lightweight fabric envelope or balloon, a burner, and a basket to ride in. Usually the envelope is first inflated by a fan. Then the air inside the envelope is heated with a burner, burning a fuel such as propane. Eventually, as the air inside the balloon gets hotter, it overcomes the weight of the basket and passengers and you have lift-off. The size and shape (and color) of these three components vary greatly, with some balloons being capable of carrying fifteen or more passengers.

Just as with an airplane, in order to fly a balloon in the US you have to be licensed by the FAA. In addition to written and orals tests, the requirements for a private pilot’s license include at least 10 hours of training, including 6 with an instructor, a solo flight, an ascent to an altitude of 2,000 feet, and two flights of an hour each within 60 days of applying for the license. However, unlike airplanes or helicopters, hot air balloons cannot be steered, at least not in the traditional sense. The hot air balloon pilot has to rely on the wind. Since the wind can vary based on altitude, limited changes in speed or direction are possible by changing altitude. This method enables pilots to participate in competitions where the goal is dropping weights onto a target.

Because there is less wind around sunup and sundown, these are usually the times that pilots choose to fly their balloons. Balloons can also fly at night, but because of problems with visibility and the need for instruments and lights, this is rarely done.

Would you like to take a balloon ride, or perhaps even get more deeply involved in the exciting world of ballooning? Hotairballooning.com suggests looking in your local phone book for companies offering balloon rides in your area. Their site also has a balloon ride directory that lists companies by state or Canadian Province. A typical ride lasts about an hour, but many enjoy prolonging the adventure by offering to help with the inflation and deflation of the balloon.

Another way to get more involved with the sport is by volunteering to be a member of a balloon’s ground crew. The ground crew helps with setting up the balloon and then follows along in a chase car during the flight, so that they can help the pilot land safely. If you don’t know of a pilot in your area, you might find one at a balloon festival. Hundreds of these festivals take place around the world each year.

Balloon festivals are like fairs, with other activities taking place and food vendors satisfying the appetites of all those waiting to see the balloons fly. And unlike the flight of a group of powered aircraft, as the sun begins to dip toward the horizon, the evening seems to become more still and peaceful as the sky is filled with the thrilling sight everyone has been waiting for. So then, even if you don’t want to get involved with ballooning by helping with the ground crew, or taking a ride yourself, you might still enjoy visiting a balloon festival and watching all of the beautiful balloons as they go "up, up, and away."

Niagara Falls Attractions

The Niagara Falls needs no introduction and I'm not going to try. There will be no lines to the effect of '...and there behold, oh human, the water as if falling from the skies above...' I'm not going there. I choose to be simple and direct with this one. So here goes - the Niagara Falls attractions are truly one of the finest in the world. There should be no doubt about that. The pure strength and aplomb with which the water makes its way to the ground is really enough to mesmerize a thousand spectators. This article is solely dedicated to the phenomenon of the Niagara Falls attractions and what they are all about.

Facts about Niagara Falls

Before we get into the attractions in Niagara Falls, let us look through some of the interesting facts about Niagara Falls and understand what makes this phenomenon one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world:

The Niagara Falls are situated at the borders of the America and Canada and divide the two countries. There is thus the 'Canadian Niagara Falls' and the 'American Niagara Falls'.

The water in the Niagara Falls comes from 4 fresh water lakes. From here it merges into the Niagara and St. Lawrence river and eventually flows into the Atlantic ocean.

The Niagara Falls was formed as a result of the last Ice Age and is a fairly young river at 12,000 years.

Niagara Falls is the second largest falls on Earth. The first being the Victoria Falls in South Africa.

The Canadian 'Horseshoe' Niagara Falls are (180 feet) 60 meters high and (2,500 feet) 833 meters wide. While the American Niagara Falls is 70 feet high (23 meters) and 1,000 feet wide (330 meters).

The Niagara Falls is the largest producer of hydro-electric power in the world, as of now.

The word "Niagara" is derived from the Indian word 'Onguiaahra' which means either 'The strait' or 'A thundering noise'.

Several acts were performed over the river which included jumping over it in a barrel and walking on a tight rope across the water body.

In 1969, the flow of the water was completely stopped to try and enhance the appearance of the Falls by removing the rocks that were causing erosion.

In the winter, the falling river and the accompanied mist create ice in the water and along the banks which is known as the 'Ice bridge'

Hydro-electric companies use the Niagara Falls as their main source of power.

During winter, huge chunks of ice fall down through the Falls which could lead to a block in the river, to prevent this, an 'Ice boom' has been installed on Lake Erie. This includes a long steel chain of 2 miles that is put across the Niagara river and covers the distance from Buffalo to Fort Erie.

The Niagara Falls has over 20 million visitors each year. And is one of the top family vacation spots in the United States.

Niagara Falls Attractions

These are some of the famous attractions in the Niagara Falls that are worth visiting:

Maid of the Mist

Luna Island - An island between the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls.

Niagara Falls State Park - The oldest state park in America.

Goat Island - Gets you a tour of the Cave of the Winds, Three Sisters Island, Terrapin Point and the Rapids.

Prospect Point

Visitor Center

Aquarium of Niagara

Rainbow Air, Inc

Bedore Tours

Whirlpool State Park

Motherland Connextions

Devil's Hole State Park

Over the Falls

Niagara Wax Museum

Hyde Park

Reservoir State Park

Wintergarden

Niagara Majestic Tours

Flight of Five

Niagara Walking Tour

Niagara Falls Green Tour

Niagara Science Museum

Seneca Niagara Casino

Niagara Wedding Chapel

Niagara Gorge Tail

Niagara Aerospace Museum

Daredevil Museum

Hiking Trails

Floral Clock

Safari Niagara

There are several other Niagara Falls attractions that are all worth witnessing! Surely there is nothing more adventurous than a safari - spotting wild animals in their natural habitat, having cultural encounters with nomadic tribes people, and taking in pristine, unspoiled and dramatic natural surroundings?

Tanzania is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Tanzania’s northern circuit is becoming increasingly popular - and for good reason! Lake Manyara is one of the only places in the world you can spot a tree climbing lion, the Ngorongoro Crater is a natural haven for a thriving populations of antelope, lion and rhino, and the Serengeti is simply the world’s most famous wildlife sanctuary. Many adventurous safari-goers will have seen the African "Big Five" by the end of a trip here.

Tanzania offers more than just wildlife, however. Imagine climbing the glorious Mount Kilimanjaro, taking in everything from dense montane forest to barren icy plains on the way, before reaching the summit in time to watch the blazing white sun rise over a new day in Africa?

For those who are more interested in cultural counters, the shores of Lake Victoria are dotted with pockets of small fishing villages, where the pace of life doesn’t seem to have changed over hundreds of years. Imagine a fishing trip with one of the local fishermen, learning all about their traditional methods and listening to their songs of life, the lake and home? Lucky visitors to Lake Eyasi, meanwhile, can spend a long morning following animal hunting tracks with the indigenous Hadzabe bushmen - one of the last peoples on earth to retain a language using clicking.

Further north, Kenya offers a wealth of her own adventure activities. The barren northern territories, rare creatures such as the bizarre looking gerenuk and the rare reticulated giraffe can be found. For budding conservationists, a trip to Ol Pejeta wildlife sanctuary is always a must. Here, visitors can see chimpanzees up close and learn all about the sanctuary’s fantastic conservation work, or get up close and personal with the prehistoric-looking black rhino at their rhino sanctuary.

Of course, Kenya is home to the Masai Mara. This, the northern extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti, is one of the best places in the world for spotting big cats. Here, you can enjoy what is perhaps the most quintessential safari experience - a hot air balloon safari. Waking before dawn, and taking off as the sun rises, you will be filled with a sense of wonder as you leave the plains underneath you and the Mara’s horizon expands before you. Spotting monkeys in the trees, and wildebeest kicking up clouds of dust as they move en masse, a sense of adventure and a swell of sheer delight will overcome you.

Summiting the brooding Mount Kenya is another must for the pursuer of the adventure safari. The hikers peak, the dramatic Point Lenana, stands at some 4985 meters - the perfect height from which to enjoy the dawn and take in the amazing sight of morning clouds clearing to reveal the jagged peaks below you.

Both Kenya and Tanzania are fabulous choices for an adventure safari, and for those people who are finding it difficult to choose, it’s even possible to take in both countries on a Kenya and Tanzania tour, stopping off at Lake Victoria in between. And don’t forget, even the adventurer needs to rest some time - why not combine your adventure safari with a stay on Kenya’s fabulous coast, or the exotic island of Zanzibar?
Adventure Safaris
Ziara Safaris specialise in safaris around Tanzania, Kenya and Zanzibar. With growing popularity, numerous hiking organizations have cropped up everywhere over the last decade or so. Along with the tremendous rise in the number of people taking to this adventure sport, the number of accident occurrences has also increased. Most of these accidents can be attributed to carelessness on the part of hikers or improper planning. Therefore, one has to take his safety into consideration when opting to go out for such an outing.

Hiking Safety Tips

The planning of the hiking trip is the most important thing. It's better to have the basic knowledge about the terrain of the region as well as weather conditions that prevail in the area in question. You can search for this information on the Internet or refer to the hikers who have been there before. Choose the right time for the hike. You surely wouldn't want to end up in bad weather conditions. Although, it's nearly impossible to predict what the weather has in store for you, you can always take the necessary precautions and be safe on your part.

Basic study about the environment of the chosen place will tell you what all things you should and you shouldn't do. For instance, some berries are really poisonous. Hence, though tempting, these poisonous berries are best avoided. Same is the case with animals, sometime small colorful insects found in the wilderness can turn out to be very venomous. Hence, it's better to keep a safe distance from the things we do not know much about.

Drinking water from a crystal clear mountain stream may make you feel like you are getting closer to the nature, but it is important to know that this stream water can have some harmful bacteria, and hence it is wiser to carry water from your home. Keep some water purifier like chlorine with you while you are backpacking. In some cases, you may be left with no option but to drink the stream water. In such a situation, these purifiers will definitely come in handy.

When outdoors, especially during overnight trips, fire is one of the most essential things needed. So always choose to carry a matchbox or a lighter, and more importantly, be very careful with it. Out in the wild, you can trigger a forest fire with a small match stick. So be careful while lighting bonfires or using fire torches while hiking.

Learn the basics of first aid and make sure to carry a first aid kit with you. Minor injuries are common during hiking, but these injuries shouldn't spoil your fun. Basics in first aid will arm you with the skills required to overcome stress and deal with certain types of injuries. Your first aid kit should include bandages, anti-bacterial cream, disinfectant, etc. Information about the nearest hospital can be of great help, in case of some serious injury.

Some people just grasp the basic knowledge about the environment, and later try to recollect what they had read, when they come face to face with a situation. A better way would be to carry field guides containing basic knowledge about the area, as well as flora and fauna found there. A field guide with a printed map of the area would turn out to be an added advantage.

Small gadgets can be turn out to be life saving in emergency situations. Some of the camping gear you ought to have in your backpack include, a flashlight, an army knife, a compass and binoculars. Avoid taking unnecessary items such as video games, as these will just add weight to your backpack, which will eventually make you exhaust sooner.

Watch where you step. Sometimes people are so engrossed in looking around that they fail to site the danger lurking right in front of them. This danger can range from some venomous reptile to a dangerous crevice. A simple method is to keep an eye on the track, and consider the path before heading forward.

Do not mess with nature, it would be better if you leave it as it was when you came. Unnecessary garbage spilling will do you no good. Also avoid carrying back the things you found while hiking, not even flowers. Some things are meant to be untouched, as they are already in their right place. Even feeding animals in the wilderness is a strict no.

Hiking is a group activity, so it's better done in a group. Going for hiking alone increases your chances of getting lost, getting injured and makes you more vulnerable to the dangers of wilderness. Even when going with a group, make sure you tell someone about your planned outing and expected time of return.

No doubt hiking is full of enthusiasm, but you need to keep your enthusiasm under control so that you have ample fun. Some people, especially youngsters, being over-enthusiastic, start off very fast and end up getting exhausted half way through. Hiking is not about reaching the destination, it's about enjoying the journey. You need to save energy and keep yourself dehydrated. A steady pace and regular breaks will ensure you a great adventure.

One should remember that over-enthusiasm and over-confidence can land you in some serious trouble. It's better to acknowledge the fact that no matter how smart or how prepared we are, mother nature will always be a step ahead of us.

Rock Climbing Gear

What does one do when one is in the need for some thrills and adventure? The skateboarding history has evolved through various phases since its inception in the late 1960s. The International Association of Skateboard Companies, an authority that looks after the growth and development of skateboarding, has been discussing about the possibility of making skateboarding an Olympic sports.

History of Skateboarding

The skateboarding history can be traced back to the 1950s and 60s, when it evolved as a fun activity for the teens and youngsters in California. There is not much data and information about who invented this interesting activity.

Who Invented Skateboarding?

Well, no one knows exactly who came up with the idea of skateboarding. There have been many people who have claimed to have invented this fascinating and creative activity however, it is just a mirage and no one is sure about the inventor of this sports.

Skateboarding is believed to have sprung from the idea of the California surfers, who went on to try this sports on the pavements. In the initial years, wooden skateboards were attached with roller skate wheels and it was just meant for the purpose of having fun. No one had imagined that skateboarding will become a very popular fun filled activity and a sports for the surfers in the coming sixty years!

Skateboarding History: Growth

As the popularity of the skateboarding grew, the initial wooden boxes were soon replaced by layers of wooden planks. In the beginning of 1960s, the popularity of wooden planks grew and companies started making well organized skateboards. Slalom or freestyle were some of the popular skateboarding tricks practiced during those times.

The most popular skateboarding players of the late 1960s were Torger Johnson, Woody Woodward and Danny Berer. The skating styles of these players was more simple and not very adventurous. These players demonstrated their skateboarding skills for games like ice skating or in the ballet dancing. The year 1965 saw a decrease in popularity of the skateboards and it was assumed that people have stopped skating in parts of the US. However, there were places in US were still people skated and so a possible resurgence of this fun filled activity was expected. In the year 1972, a company called as Cadillac Wheels founded by Frank Nasworthy, introduced the ployurethane technology to the world of skating wheels and triggered a new wave of interest among the surfers and teens.

Skateboarding History: Later Years (1980s – 2000s)

The era of 1980s was marked by the increased popularity of skateboarding. A whole new breed of avid skaters and groups were formed and skateboarding was started to be practiced as a popular sports. This was helpful to boost the growth of this sports. In the year 1975, the world witnessed the first ever public display of this fascinating sports when a contest was held in Del Mar, California.

The legendary Zephyr team that consisted of the bests like Tony Alva and Jay Adams showed the world how challenging and disciplined the art of skating can be. In the further years, skateboarding was revolutionized by the invention of Ollie trick by Alan Gelfand, that changed the ways skating was practiced.

This trick is professionally practiced by all skaters and Alan Gelfand was included in the skateboard hall of fame for his wonderful contribution in the year 2002. Some of the biggest names ever in the history of skateboarding include Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Stacy Peralta, and Kevin Staab etc. As skating became popular, there were video shoots of these famous players practicing these games and this led to the increased popularity of this game.

Skiing Tricks

now capped peaks and well blanketed slopes beckon us to a time of adventure, frolic and excitement. Feeling the gush of air on your face and blazing a defiant trail as you go skiing on the well-dressed slopes is truly a mind blowing experience! However, snow skiing is not just about putting on warm, colorful ski suits and a pair of skis and heading off to race the snow covered slopes. There's a lot more involved! Factors like safety, skiing techniques, etc. need to be learned before heading for the slopes. Without preparation you will only end flat on your face.

Beginner Skiing Tricks

Here we are assuming you are already aware of the basics that go into skiing. Basics on how to fall, get up, snowplough and basic navigation skills such as side slipping, herringbone, kickturns, etc. are clear. Moreover, you should also be aware of standard ski jump, spread eagle, daffy, helicopter skiing tricks. Once you have the basic techniques mastered, some practice and skill will help you navigate the snowy slopes faster and with more freedom. To add some more challenge and excitement to the sport, let's have a look at some freestyle skiing tricks that will raise the bar of fun and frolic in the air.

5 Freestyle Skiing Tricks

360
In this aerial maneuver, one needs to focus specially on the execution of a 360 degree turn in mid air and a smooth landing. In this freestyle trick, as one takes off, one needs to move the head and shoulder in direction of the turn. The rest of the body will follow. Grabbing the tail and pulling it into your spin, look over your left shoulder and spot the landing. Prepare yourself to land and absorb the impact.

Daffy
Want to try a split in mid air? Well, then daffy is the trick for you. In this trick with moderate speed one heads to the lip of a jump and once in mid air, you put one leg in front and the other at the back, to do the split. Then putting your legs in original position, you get to spot your landing and land. Make sure when you do a split, the jump takes you high above the ground so that your skis do not touch the snow when you do the split. However, before attempting a daffy, make sure you have mastered jumps.

Tail Grab
This skiing trick involves grabbing the tail of one ski in midair. In a tail grab, you take off with moderate speed, reach the lip of the jump and jump into midair. Once your in midair, cross your skis and grab the tail of your left ski with your right hand. The fact that you have crossed your skis makes it simpler for you to touch the opposite ski. Then bring your legs to original position and land safely.

Backscratcher
If you're still in for some more adventure in midair, try the backscratcher! In this skiing trick, you move your skis behind yourself in such a manner that the tails are in close proximity to your back. For carrying out this interesting trick, take off with moderate speed. Once you reach the lip of the jump, bend your knees. Have your skis positioned at your sides. Once in midair, bend your knees further and stretch out your hand and skis behind you, such that the tail is close to your back. Lean backwards and complete the backscratcher position. Then straighten out your legs and spot your landing position. Land safely by bending your knees to minimize the impact.

Iron Cross
This is another popular ski trick that consists of crossing the skis as one reaches midair. Before trying out this trick, it is important to check the height of the jump from the ground. You need to ensure that once you jump you attain enough height without having your skis caught in the blanket of the snow beneath. This trick is similar to the backscratcher, except that here the heels or ski tails are crossed in mid air.

List of Other Freestyle Skiing Tricks

360 Safety Grab

540 Tail Grab

Mute Grab

Backflip

Backflip Mute Grab

Half Cab Mute Grab

Under Flip

Rocket Air

Spread Eagle

Flair in the Pipe

Zudnick

Cossack / Kosak

Fakie 180

Twister

Lincoln Loop

Lincoln Loop 180

Switch Corked 720

Flatspin

Alley Oop

Alley Oop Flatspin 540

Skiing is truly a challenging, fascinating and intriguing sport. Get beginners lessons on skiing tips and tricks, and practice them diligently. Then move onto these freestyle skiing tricks to have the ultimate skiing experience. The best part about skiing is that irrespective of which level of skiing you are at, you always have the time of your life!

Benefits of Camping

Camping is one of the best recreational activities, and a favorite among families, youth and couples all over the world. The benefits of camping are multifarious, with each person gaining something different from the experience. Studies have shown that humans subconsciously desire to connect with the natural world, by being around plants, wilderness, and the seas. Termed 'biophilia' by medical professionals, it has brought to light a fact we always knew, that the outdoors have a positive effect on a persons quality of life.

Advantages of Camping

Family Time: Camping is one of the best ways to connect and bond with your family. If a hectic work schedule is leaving you with little time for your family members, a weekend camping trip is the perfect answer. With no television, computers and cell phones to serve as distractions, activities such as setting up camp, fishing and cooking will have everyone working and spending quality time together. Add to this fun activities such as camping games and bonfires, and everyone will have a blast.

Cost Effective: Going camping is possibly your cheapest/most cost effective holiday option. Money spent on airline tickets and hotel rooms can be scratched out and replaced by significantly smaller amounts spent on driving to your camp site and on cheap reusable camping equipment. For those on budget vacations, homemade camping gear will ensure that the cost of your camping trip will stay to the bare minimum.

Immediate Option: A camping trip can fit into the amount of time you have to spare and does not require much prior planning. A camping trip can be for one night, a weekend, a week or more. For short trips, an evening to collect all the supplies you need will suffice. For a spontaneous trip, you can drive to the nearest camping ground and spend the night there. All you will need is food (which could be in the form of sandwiches), water and a sleeping bag.

Variety: Camping opens up the option of several other activities. Many campgrounds come equipped with pools, lakes, and trails, which allows you to go fishing, swimming, canoeing, or biking. Armed with a little bit of research before you leave, you could also try some stargazing or birdwatching. Things to do while camping include a leisurely trip at a campground using tents, motor homes or cabins in the back country with no facilities.

Love for Nature: One of the biggest advantages of taking your kids camping is that it will inculcate in them a love for nature. You can be assured of raising responsible caring individuals, who will leave the planet in better shape than they received it in. They will also pick up basic survival skills and create lasting memories. If you are a nature lover, you can revel in the magnificent outdoors and enjoy some solitude and quiet. One of the best things about camping is that it is a simplified way of life, and is a nutshell experience of the lives of our ancestors.

Health: The invigorating fresh air and exercise that a camping trip affords you is great for your health. Apart from the hikes and rowing, even everyday tasks like collecting wood provide a great workout. A weekly or monthly camping trip will not only refresh your mind, but also do your body loads of good.

The next time you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and enjoy a tranquil weekend in the midst of nature, go camping. Armed with a few hiking and camping tips, exploring nature's wondrous beauty is easy enough. Among the benefits of camping is that it removes you from the structured, amenity dependent life in the city and allows you to get in touch with your untamed side. For families with younger children, the importance of camping activities should not be ignored. While older children and adults can connect with nature, younger children tend to get bored and would need fun camping activities to enjoy longer camps. For those who think that a few days away from indoor plumbing and air conditioning is torture, a star filled night sky away from city lights and the magnificence of creation, is exactly what they need to change their mind.

Surfboard Size Chart

Are you planning to buy your first surfboard or may be need a new one? It is always confusing to buy a surfboard and everyone needs to refer a surfboard size guide for help. One needs to take into consideration the weight, height, the kind of waves, and personal knowledge related to the sport. Taking these factors taken into consideration will help you get the correct surfboard measurements. The following few paragraphs will serve as a surfboard size guide before we move on to the surfboard size chart. You can learn how to surf in the article basics of water surfing.

Surfboard Size Guide

A novice surfer needs to purchase a soft surfboard that is inexpensive and durable. Your surfboard should have a wooden stringer down the center of the board, rails on the edges and a sturdy deck for stability during the ride. Always keep in mind one golden rule, 'the bigger, the better'. This means longer and wider is your surfboard, it will provide you with better balance. The thicker your board, the more flotation will you get while paddling and catching the wave. But, do not go into extra huge sizes or you will never be able to get past the white water.

Once you have had enough practice and knowledge with the soft board, you should begin surfing on the fiberglass board. The fiberglass board should be a long board that is wide, thick and light that will help you paddle and catch a wave easily. The long boards will be about 8½ feet or longer and over 20 inches wide. They have a rounded nose and tail. These long boards are used to cruise on small waves for standing up and riding in smooth, calm waters. You can read more on popular surfing competitions.

After getting comfortable riding the waves, you need to start maneuvering and turning your surfboard around. You need the fun board shape that helps in riding, turning, maneuvering and teasing the waves. These fun boards are good for an beginner who is comfortable on small waves and carry out some tricks. The fun boards are about 7 to 8 feet and 20 to 23 inches wide. These fun boards too have rounded nose and tail.

An advanced surfer should go in for short boards that helps them do tricks. These short boards are thin, narrow and short. So to get the hang of a short board, you need to buy a surfboard that is thicker. This will help you gain buoyancy. When you are comfortable, you can move on to thinner boards. Now, that you are hot on the water and ready to take on the 15 foot barrel waves, you need a specialized board. These are long about 7 feet or longer with narrow, slender body and round pin tail. Each surfboard measurements varies according to the height and weight of the surfer. The following surfboard size chart will help you choose your surfboard.

Britain Tops Sail for Gold Medal Tally at Weymouth

Given the magnificent facilities of the 2012 Olympic Sailing venue at Portland, Britain's sailors produced outstanding results in the Skandia Sail for Gold regatta, once again establishing Britain as the world's top sailing nation. A medal haul of two gold, six silver and a bronze was unmatched by any other nation's team.

Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson were the first to be assured of their gold medal, in the star class, when the medal race was canceled. The Olympic champions had led the series from the outset and never looked in any danger of being beaten.

Nic Asher and Elliott Willis were the next to be crowned – the British pair had been in second, equal on points with the Australians Matthew Belcher and Martin Page, who had led the series all week. But the Australians were over the starting line early and that ditched their chances; they were fourth overall. Asher and Willis were eighth, good enough for gold, and bronze in the season-long ISAF World Cup. A second in the medal race took Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell into the silver-medal place.

Lucy Macgregor, Annie Lush and Ally Martin were narrowly beaten in the final of the women's match racing, but their silver medal also consolidated their victory in the ISAF World Cup. Nick Thompson took the laser class and Ed Wright the finns (in which he also took the silver medal at Weymouth), while Asher and Willis claimed a bronze.

The men's world champion in the RS:X sailboards, Nick Dempsey, sat out this regatta but in the women's event Bryony Shaw won silver. In the women's 470, the new pairing of Pippa Wilson and Saskia Clark took home the bronze medal.

In the Paralympic classes, Britain had two silver medals; John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas in the sonar, and Alex Rickham and Niki Birrell in the skud 18. Megan Pascoe's fourth in the 2.4 meters put her in gold-winning position in the ISAF World Cup, the same position as Robertson, Stodel and Thomas. Rickham and Birrell won the silver.

Trekking Handlebars

Most of the mountain bikes and racer bikes that we ride today are meant for short distance travel. The modern bicycles have been derived from the ones that were used in the 18th and 19th centuries. Convectional bicycles that we use today have a triangular frame with the total weight begin distributed upon 2 congruent wheels. With the development in aerodynamic sciences and manufacture of light weight metals and fibers, advanced bicycles that have made a foray into the market are dedicated to perform and deliver higher speeds. Moving on to trekking handlebars…

Modern Bicycle Structures
Modern bicycles have a structure and frame that is built in such a manner that the rider is able to perform better at delivering speed. Hence, most of the bicycle models compel the rider to lean. In cases where the bicycle is a racer bike, the rider needs to lean downwards and in cases where the bicycle is a mountain bike, the rider is compelled to lean forward. Such setting is comfortable for shorter distances that are traveled almost every day, without any genuine weight on the back. Such bikes are easy to maneuver and ride for short distances like your home to office, school or market.

However, in cases where you are planning to go for a long ride that is going to last for a couple of days then trekking handlebars is a necessity. If you use the normal handlebars, then you will be troubling yourself as in a leaning position you put your body's pressure on the spine and arms. Not to mention the wrist ache that might occur. Apart from your own body weight, you will be exerting yourself with the wight of your back pack. Muscle pain and back ache are two things that you might suffer from.

Bicycle Trekking Handlebars
In case, you prefer to attach good trekking handlebars, then your journey is bound to be much more comfortable. When you go for a long bicycle trip, you should fix the trekking handlebars with your bicycle. Climbing and descending any terrain is much more easier with the help of such handlebars. The erect posture is bound to keep you comfortable and free of any muscle pain. The bars will also help you to carry your backpack quite easily.

Trekking handlebars from Nashbar are really good ones. The basic design of such bars is like that of a figure of 8. It enables the rider to ride in a perpendicular and erect posture and also enables the rider to lean a bit. The trekking handlebar tape also keeps the bar safe and provides sufficient friction to sweaty palms. If you are frequent trekker, then you must certainly get yourself a trekking handlebars road bike

Such bikes provide the rider with a certain comfort and safety. It must be noted that trekking handlebars can also be fitted onto almost all bikes.

Sell Junk Car in NJ

Hot Balloon Ride Festivals: Get Ready for a Hot Air Balloon Ride

If you are interested in hot air ballooning, then you should know that is indeed fairly easy to get involved with it. Getting involved in hot air ballooning is as simple a process as following a hot air balloon and meeting it where it lands – yes that means it is indeed simple but it takes a lot of time, patience, courage and energy.

Ever heard of hot air balloon ride festivals?

If you are interested in hot air ballooning, then you should probably go experience the thrill of a hot air balloon festival. Hot air balloon festivals are generally held in all countries all over the world, all year round. Not only do these festivals give the balloonists a chance to participate in the races while providing them with the opportunity to display their balloons, but it is also a great way of drawing crowds and allowing the public to witness this colorful spectacle while learning more about the sport.

There are hundreds of different hot air balloon ride festivals held every year, with the maximum number of them taking place in the months of summer and fall. If you are planning on visiting one of these festivals this year, then you should know like most hot air balloon festivals are like carnivals – from food and entertainment, to music and fun and all the razzle dazzle that comes along with it – hot air balloon festivals are like the ‘Mardi Gras’ for balloonists, minus the samba dancers of course!

So, be prepared to wake up early in the morning because many flights take place in the wee hours of the morning, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to miss that – would you? If you are interested in hot air ballooning – not just from a fun ride point of view – but you want to learn the ins and outs of the activity, then feel free to ask the pros questions. They’ll be more than willing to answer your questions, and if you are lucky enough, you’ll probably come across a balloonist that stays in your vicinity.

Getting Started with Hot Air Ballooning: Hot Air Balloon Ride Tips
No matter how you decide to get into the groove of hot air ballooning, you will surely fall in love with this sport. Its unique appeal makes it all the more attractive to adrenaline junkies of all ages. What’s more, it is one of the best conversation starters at a club, pub, coffee shop and even a PTA! It also makes a great first date for the young, a good outing for the families and an amazing travel adventure for the elderly.

So, when you are getting started with hot air ballooning, here are a few tips (no matter how inconsequential they may seem) to consider, as they will be of use to you:

Here are a couple of items to carry along when you go on a hot balloon ride – warm jackets, camcorders, cameras, binoculars, camera batteries, and film.

Search in the yellow pages or online for the best possible ballooning companies. Ask around for references and find the most popular ballooning area.

Call in advance to book a flight. Prices vary from company to company. You might have to pay extra for chartering a flight and if you want special goodies like champagne and wine then you’ll need to customize your flight, which costs more.

Shop around for different packages and deals. Most hot air balloon companies provide full-day and half-day trips.

Be prepared to start off early – as most companies will ask you to come to the launch pad at dawn when the wind is mild or non existent. Bad weather conditions would mean your trip gets cancelled. After all, you don’t want to be involved in a hot air balloon crash do you?

As silly as it may seem, most companies will advice you to use the restroom before you come in for your flight. Trust me, this is the most useful tip.

Hot Air Balloon Ride Precautions

When ballooning, don’t get tensed about falling from the basket – it doesn’t really sway that much.

If you are going to a popular ballooning destination, then book your ride in advance.

Even though most hot air balloons tend to go where the wind takes them, make sure there is some ground crew following your particular balloon. But don’t worry about getting lost; the ground crew always keeps in touch with the pilot by radio.

Even if you suffer from motion sickness, most people don’t get airsick when going on a hot air balloon ride. But if you are still concerned, then carry your motion sickness medication along.

If you suffer from vertigo, then you may want to reconsider going for this activity.

Yes, hot air ballooning is indeed addictive. Once you go for your first hot air balloon ride, you are definitely going to be hooked to the sport. You can say goodbye to sleep, boring weekends!
